It is a lovely environment for my child to thrive and learn in. He loves being in school every day.

Each child is guided and nurtured within our Brackenwood Infant School family allowing for a happy and supportive learning environment in which children are confident to take risks, develop life long relationships and communicate their ideas confidently.

Our school day begins at 8:45am with a morning break in KS1 (Years 1&2) at 10:30am. Lunch break for all children is 12:00pm – 1:00pm and KS1 children may also have a short afternoon break as a brain break, if required. The school day finishes at 3:20pm with a weekly total of 32hrs and 55 minutes.

Throughout the day children in KS1 will receive focussed teaching and learning in phonics, reading, English writing, maths and all wider curriculum subjects from the national curriculum. The school day may also be supplemented with other lessons such as handwriting, arithmetic and spelling practice.

For children in our F2 provision, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. We plan for all 7 areas of learning using Development Matters and the children’s learning is based around one main context each half term. Children also receive teaching in reading, writing and maths lessons that are linked to the half term context that they are learning about.

The children in our F2 provision have access to our F2 outdoor classroom throughout the day.
