Pupil Premium, PE Grant Allocation and Recovery Premium Information

Pupil Premium Information

At Brackenwood Infant School we have high aspirations and ambitions for all our pupils and we are determined to ensure that are all provided with every opportunity to flourish, both in terms of their academic achievement and in their ability to make a full and positive contribution to our school community.

We recognise that to fully meet the needs of our pupil premium children we need to identify any individual barriers to learning which may prevent them from making progress in line with other children. This is why we carefully evaluate and tailor our support and interventions regularly.

PE Sport Grant

The Primary PE and Sport Premium was launched by the government in April 2013. Schools are allocated a sum of money to support all children and improve the quantity and quality of PE and sport provision.

The allocation is calculated according to the intake of the school. Each school can decide how best to use the money to improve P.E. and sport provision with a view to increasing participation in P.E. and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach personal goals.

Recovery Premium Information

Recovery premium is part of the government’s package of funding to support pupils whose education has been impacted by COVID-19.

It is a time-limited grant providing over £300 million of additional funding for state-funded schools in the 2021/22 academic year and £1 billion across the 2022/23 and 2023/24 academic years.

It is focused on pupils who are eligible for pupil premium and pupils in specialist settings such as:

  • special schools

  • special units

  • pupil referral units (PRUs)

This is because of the additional impact of the pandemic on these students.

At Brackenwood Infant School, we show the impact of our Recovery Premium within our Pupil Premium Strategy.
