School Committees

At Brackenwood Infant School, it is vital for us that our children are empowered to shape our school community, local community and global community. We have a wide range of school committees that all children can become involved in, working with school staff, governors and volunteers, to further develop the experiences of all involved with our school.

School Council

Our school councillors represent the views of all of our children. Two children from each class are selected at the start of the academic year to discuss and make decisions on important school matters. It is vital that our school councillors have the confidence to challenge the school’s leaders so that they can help to develop a school that they can feel proud of. Our school council have helped to design our new school playground and we are very excited about seeing this project completed.

JTAs

(Junior Travel Ambassadors)

Brackenwood Infant School has teamed up with Sustrans and Wirral Council to raise the profile of ‘Active Travel,’ and reduce the impact of cars on our local roads. The children in this committee, along with support from Mr Smith and our parent governor Mr Jones, have introduced a number of exciting and educational projects that have successfully reduced the number of cars on our local roads..…but there is still more that must be done!

School Librarians

Being a librarian at our school is a very important role. Whilst the children’s main duties revolve around supporting the smooth day to day running of the library, we find that it also helps to develop a sense of responsibility, achievement and self-esteem in our children.

Our school librarians are all children who love READING! They are enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable children who are always keen to help others.

Eco Committee

Our Eco Team, led by Miss Simpson and supported by Mrs Jackson have achieved the Woodland Trust’s Bronze Award and we are so proud of them.

Each year our Eco Committee aim to complete environmental projects such as tree planting, recycling and raising awareness of our planet.

Play Leaders

Our play leaders are responsible for bringing out, setting up and putting away the equipment at lunchtimes. They also help to organise exciting games for all of our children to play and most importantly, they always ensure that no child is on their own!

At the beginning of each academic year the children in year 2 apply for the position of play leader and then work in collaboration with our active play managers, Miss Melling and Mrs Jones.

As a team, our play leaders and active play managers set the rota, decide on activities and ensure that the equipment is safe and ready to use. At the end of each week two of the play leaders are awarded a certificate to show that they have gone above and beyond what is expected of them.
